Accademia Teatro alla Scala, one of Europe’s leading institutions for professional training in music and performing arts, has opened applications for its Advanced Course for Orchestra Musicians for the 2027–2028 period.
Free of charge for selected participants, the two-year program is designed for young musicians pursuing a professional orchestral career and offers intensive training in symphonic, opera, and ballet repertoire.
The program includes:
• individual lessons with principal players of the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra;
• orchestra and chamber music sessions;
• practical training in professional performance settings;
• concerts and tours in Italy and abroad;
• opportunities to perform at Teatro alla Scala and other internationally renowned venues and festivals.
Participants will work under the guidance of internationally acclaimed conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Roland Böer, Gustavo Dudamel, Christoph Eschenbach, Iván Fischer, Manfred Honeck, Susanna Mälkki, Gianandrea Noseda, and Mikhail Tatarnikov.
Scholarships may be awarded starting from the second semester of the first year to support artistic activities included in the program.
Course period: 1 January 2027 – 31 December 2028
Application deadline: 25 September 2026
Selections are held every two years.
