Vacancy – Assistant Conductor / Conductor in Residence

The Royal Swedish Opera is searching for an Assistant Conductor / Conductor in Residence for the 2027/2028 season, working closely with Music Director Alan Gilbert and guest conductors.

Applicants should have professional conducting experience equivalent to Kapellmeister level at major European opera houses, with experience in opera and ballet or equivalent professional experience.

The position is offered for one season, with the possibility of extension, and includes opportunities to conduct opera and ballet performances.

Application process:
Round 1 – video audition
Round 2 – live audition in Stockholm, 12–14 January 2027, by invitation.

Monthly salary: SEK 45,000
