Within the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, the Vocal Academy returns in 2026 under the guidance of internationally renowned baritone Thomas Hampson, offering young singers an intensive artistic training experience focused on opera and Lied.

Designed for a small group of selected participants, the programme emphasizes in-depth work on interpretation, expression, and stage presence, within a concentrated study environment, complemented by public concert appearances as part of the festival.

Participation is free of charge; however, selected candidates are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
The programme is open to singers aged 22–30 with an advanced musical level, particularly interested in opera and Lied repertoire.

Applications must include:

  • CV and professional photo

  • relevant academic documents

  • four recent video recordings (not older than six months)

  • a signed letter of recommendation

The academy runs as an intensive programme of approximately seven hours per day, in the form of public masterclasses. Participants will also perform in two concerts during the course and receive a certificate upon completion.
