The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria) is organising the International Composition Competition 2027, inviting composers to submit new chamber music works for piano duo and string quartet.
The winning composition will be included as a compulsory work in the repertoire of the International Competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music” 2028 and will receive its premiere performance during the competition.
Instrumentation: Piano duo and string quartet (two pianos or piano four hands, two violins, viola and violoncello)
Duration: 10–15 minutes
Application deadline: 10 March 2027
Application fee: €30
Eligibility: Composers of any nationality born in 1986 or later
Prize: €5,000; the winning composition will be premiered and included in the compulsory repertoire of the competition
Applications: Via MUVAC (from 10 December 2026)
Additional requirements: The composition must not have been previously performed, awarded or published.
