Description

The Hungarian Music Festival invites young musicians to take part in its 22nd edition, a festival competition showcasing Hungarian classical music in dialogue with Romanian and international repertoire.

  • Dates: May 11–14, 2026
  • Location: Bucharest, Romania
  • Age limit: 18–35
  • Eligible participants: soloists or duos (vocal or instrumental)
  • Programme: 20–25 minutes, with at least 2/3 works by Hungarian composers, alongside Romanian and international repertoire
  • Application deadline: April 21, 2026
  • Participation fee: none

The top three finalists will have the opportunity to give recitals at Hungarian cultural institutions abroad – Collegium Hungaricum Vienna, Hungarian Academy in Rome and Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music – and will receive cash prizes of EUR 300 / 200 / 100 (taxable).

Within the framework of the Hungarian Music Festival, UCIMR – Romanian Union of Performing Musicians offers selected young performers (violin, guitar, percussion, flute, horn, cello or voice) scholarships for a one-week masterclass programme at IConArts Academy, Transylvania.
