Hamburg State Opera is inviting applications for its International Opera Studio, a two-year professional development programme for emerging opera singers.
Applications for the 2027/28 and 2028/29 seasons are open for the following voice types:
  • Soprano
  • Tenor
  • Baritone
The two-year programme provides emerging opera singers with the opportunity to complete their professional training in the working environment of one of Germany’s leading opera houses, combining stage experience, artistic coaching and professional career development.
During the programme, Opera Studio members receive:
  • a monthly scholarship and performance fees;
  • opportunities to perform in Hamburg State Opera productions;
  • individual artistic coaching and repertoire development;
  • masterclasses and professional mentoring;
  • personalised career guidance and professional development support.
Application requirements:
  • maximum age: 30 years (as of 1 September 2027);
  • online applications only;

  • 2–3 video recordings, uploaded as AVI/MP4 files or submitted as YouTube links.
