Auditions – Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester

The renowned Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO), founded in 1986/87 on the initiative of Claudio Abbado, is one of Europe’s leading youth orchestras and operates under the patronage of the Council of Europe.

GMJO auditions are held annually in numerous European cities.

To participate in the GMJO Auditions 2026, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• European citizenship
• advanced level of musical education
• date of birth between 1 January 2000 and 1 October 2008

As part of the long-standing collaboration between the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the National University of Music Bucharest, the Bucharest audition will take place on 25 November 2026 at the National University of Music Bucharest (33 Știrbei Vodă Street).

The application deadline for the Bucharest audition is 16 November 2026.
