The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra announces an International Conducting Masterclass led by Sergey Smbatyan, Principal Guest Conductor of the orchestra, taking place in Malta from 27–31 July 2026.
The programme is designed for advanced conducting students and emerging professional conductors, offering participants the opportunity to work with a professional symphony orchestra through intensive training sessions and individual artistic mentorship.
The masterclass includes:
– working sessions with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra;
– individual mentorship with Sergey Smbatyan;
– collaboration with a guest soloist during orchestral sessions;
– video analysis sessions and lectures;
– a public final concert at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on 31 July 2026.
The repertoire includes works by Johannes Brahms, Jean Sibelius, Carl Maria von Weber, and Gustav Mahler.
