Description

The Cultural Association “Dacia Capta”, in partnership with Comeat Lichtenwald Association, Dante Alighieri Society – Timișoara Branch, and the West University of Timișoara, announces the first edition of the “Armonii în Văile Comeatului” International Classical Music Competition, dedicated to young opera singers.

The programme aims to support the artistic development of young musicians and to provide a platform for performance and visibility in a distinctive cultural setting, taking place in the Comeat area (Timiș County, Romania).

The competition consists of three stages (preliminary round, semifinal and final), and the repertoire includes four arias from Italian operas, performed in the original language and key.
Optionally, candidates may include a work composed by Enrico Cannata, in order to compete for the special prize awarded for its interpretation.

The 2026 edition will take place from May 22 to May 24, in two locations:

  • preliminary round and semifinal: Faculty of Music and Theatre, West University of Timișoara (May 22)
  • final and gala concert: “Studio Rural 5” Cultural Centre, Comeat (May 24)

Participation is free of charge (no application fee).

Candidates must submit their application file (application form, CV, photo, copy of ID, and piano-vocal scores of the selected arias) to: concurscomeat@gmail.com, by May 16, 2026.

Applicants must indicate the four proposed works in the application form.

The competition is open to candidates of all nationalities and voice types, aged 16 and above (born after January 1, 1991).

An official accompanist will be provided; candidates may also bring their own pianist.

Transport from Timișoara to Comeat (round trip) and meals on the day of the final are provided by the organisers.
Travel and accommodation costs are to be covered by the participants.
