Bucharest International Conducting Masterclass & Competition 2026

Bucharest Conducting Academy, in partnership with the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra, organizes the 8th edition of the Bucharest International Conducting Masterclass & Competition, a program dedicated to emerging conductors from around the world.

The program is structured in two main stages, followed by the final gala concert:

I. Masterclass – July 2–5, 2026
Working sessions with orchestra, focused on developing conducting technique and exploring the repertoire.

II. International Competition – July 6–8, 2026
Orchestral rounds within a competitive selection process.

III. Gala Concert – July 10, 2026 – Romanian Athenaeum
Finalists will conduct in the closing concert.

Application deadline: June 25, 2026

The program is open to conductors of all nationalities, with no age limit and no formal educational requirements, and combines both an educational (masterclass) and a competitive component.

The competition offers total prizes of €6,000, as well as opportunities for artistic collaborations with Romanian orchestras, supporting the professional development of the laureates.
